Letter from the CEO

As you might have gathered from the media a few days ago, we recently acquired our 100th customer in aeCERT, a subsidiary of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the United Arab Emirates. We are very proud of this success, and rightly so!

However, it is not my intention to merely reduce the services rendered and goals achieved over the past 12 months to this individual milestone. After all, contrary to all forecasts and despite the still unclear economic framework conditions, 2009 was a very positive business year for our company. In addition to further strong revenue growth of over 30%, we were able to increase the number of active user licenses for our security solutions to over half a million.

This extremely pleasing development can be attributed to several key factors:

  • The continuing high demand for our secure messaging solution Totemo TrustMail®, which ensures secure e-mail communication with internal and external communication partners;
  • In consideration of constantly increasing compliance demands, companies with a global market presence in particular are showing strong interest in our secure managed file transfer solution Totemo TrustDEX, which enables a controlled environment for secure data exchange;
  • Our growing international market presence enables us to be successful in regions and markets that are more resistant to the crisis and to continuously gain further market shares;
  • As a technology leader in our core business areas, we continue to prove our unwavering innovative power. In direct comparison to competitors, Totemo security solutions represent the benchmark with regard to stability, performance, flexibility, scalability, investment protection and profitability.
  • The change in attitude within companies has led to secure messaging and secure managed file transfer solutions today being seen as strategic, company-wide applications that can also be used in the long term to secure competitiveness without any negative effects with regard to the protection of confidential data. Based on the knowledge that Totemo as a company primarily stands for flexibility, independence and financial stability, major companies such as Deutsche Telekom, AUDI AG, Evonik Industries, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, UBS Card Center, Baloise Group and SIX Group chose our security solutions last year.

Yet excellent products and services alone are not the only key to success. Without the constant trust of our customers and business partners and without the untiring commitment of our employees, our success would not be possible. I would like to thank all of you for this.

Important challenges await us in 2010:

  • We will further consolidate our technology platform, the Totemo Security Platform (TSP), and supplement it with important core components that will simplify the development and incorporation of a third product line and simultaneously reduce development time significantly;
  • At the same time, we want to further expand and reinforce our presence in the most important growth markets;
  • Our high standards with regard to the quality of our products, services and support will continue to be a central and important component of our corporate philosophy.

I am convinced that we are ideally positioned to face the tasks ahead and that, as in the past, we will master them with a great deal of commitment, passion and a focus on the needs of our customers. For it is only in this way that perfect service can develop, which can then be built upon in the future. Our name acts as the guarantee for this.
