Totemo TrustMail is fully transparent and offers a simple, rapid and efficient integration into any existing email infrastructure such as Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, Oracle Collaboration Suite, GroupWise, and others.

Internal users as well as external communication partners do not require particular email clients or email software. Totemo TrustMail directly interoperates with all standard email clients such as MS Outlook, Outlook Express, Lotus Notes, etc.

The registration of internal and external communication partners occurs fully automated. Thus, administrative tasks and operational costs are minimized. Via integrated interfaces, TrustMail can operate with existing directories such as LDAP or MS-ADS and also connect with external PKIs.

When an internal employee sends a message to en external recipient, the TrustMail Gateway checks the credentials that were stored for the recipient. If he/she was already registered, the sender’s encryption public key is automatically added to the message before it is encrypted with the recipient’s certificate. If no certificate is found for the recipient, he/she automatically receives a notification from TrustMail where he/she is asked to access the message in the WebMail application over an SSL-protected connection.

In case the recipient is new, a fully automated simple enrolment process between the TrustMail Gateway and the new recipient takes place: the original message is kept back by TrustMail and temporarily stored encrypted in the secure key and data store. Instead of the original message, a digitally signed notification is transmitted with the information that the sender would like to transmit a secure message but the recipient is not yet registered. TrustMail offers different options to the recipient to receive or access his/her message.
